About

Based in Kent, UK, I work as both a marine ecologist and visual artist. My paintings are inspired by the ocean and the extraordinary life beneath its surface — from coral reefs and drifting kelp forests to the small, charismatic creatures often hidden from view.

Working in mixed media, I create layered, atmospheric paintings that explore the movement, beauty, and vitality of underwater worlds. Through texture, flowing colour, and expressive mark-making, I aim to capture not only the appearance of marine ecosystems, but also their sense of wonder, calm, and mystery.

My work is shaped by both personal experience and scientific curiosity. Having studied marine biology, oceanography, and environmental policy, and through years spent diving and snorkelling, I am continually drawn to the richness and complexity of the sea. I paint from memory, sketches, photographs, video, and observation, blending realism with imagination and emotion.

I began painting later in life as a form of healing and reflection, finding myself repeatedly returning to the ocean through art. Themes of adventure, awe, connection, and restoration run throughout my work, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with the natural world.

Through my paintings, I celebrate the ocean not only as a place of extraordinary biodiversity, but also as a source of inspiration, curiosity, and joy.
